    Day Two -- Self Examination

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2 Cor. 13:5)

In Day Two, we want to do a self-examination, an assessment in regards to the Faith that as Jude wrote, “…ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3).” There are many verses of Scripture that stand out and relate to this subject but one in particular is this, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (I Cor. 3:18). What is the image? What is the glory?

What do you see? The glory of Jesus over Moses, the New Covenant over the Old Covenant, the Spirit over the Letter — written on the heart versus that which is written on stone. Are you walking in and living by what you believe? Is what you believe in alignment with what the Word of God says? It is the image of Jesus that we are being changed into, from glory to glory. We are being forever changed by the Spirit of the Living God in ever increasing splendor that leads from glory to glory reflecting Jesus (II Cor. 3:18 AMPC ed.).

Jesus taught in the Parable of the Seed Sower (Mt. 13:3-9, 18-23; Mk. 4:3-20; Lk. 8:4-15) about four types of soil representing the hearts of men it reveals why some people grow and flourish while others--don’t. He spoke of the condition of the heart which truly matters pertaining to the things of God. Think of the parable as a test of the heart to see whether it is good or not, or as an assessment to examine where you are.

Examination is not condemnation, just as liberty is not freedom to do anything you want but freedom to do what is right. Both, examination and liberty are for our good. In Christ you can do something about being shallow, stony, or thorny in order to become good and fruitful concerning your life in God. The keys are simple, but they must not be overlooked: hear the Word of God, believe the Word of God, receive the Word of God, live and work the Word of God.

If there was only one way to become rich and you were given the instructions to do so, you should or could not expect to become rich if you ignored those instructions. Instructions, teachings, trainings, commandments, etc., are all ways by which we move forward in life. We are and can be creative, but once the pattern has been established, you continue to follow the pattern. The Word of God works when you work the Word of God! Therefore, examine yourself and be willing to make the changes necessary to grow and be transfigured into the image of Jesus, from glory to glory.
